Curiosities:

Lisbon with a very old and rich history that makes losing its origin in the mist of the centuries, Lisbon grew from the hill of the Saint George Castle

Several civilizations inhabited there such as; Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans and Moors and, in 1147, conquered by D. Afonso Henriques ( the first Portuguese King ), but only In 1255, Lisbon became the capital of the kingdom.

Place where ships and caravels had left to discover new worlds and change mercantile centers where the spices of the East arrived and were negotiated in a gesture celebrated by Belem Tower a 16th century architectural jewel, when Portugal was in fact a global power, and the Jerónimos Monastery, both of which were classified by UNESCO in 1983 as World Cultural Heritage, both included in Portugal’s List of 7 Wonders in 2007.

Lisbon was the stage where the globalization had begin.

Our Tour

All our tours are private and designed for you according to your taste and curiosity, here we present some suggestions of what your day can be, if you have any suggestions (like restaurants or places to visit) or even questions you can do it directly with your guide, the tour is adaptable to each client, without these changes putting the day in risk.

Step 1Lisbon Downtown

In Baixa (downtown Lisbon) we will understand the importance of the terrible earthquake of 1755 and what the same came to change whether it is in the Portuguese minds or even in the Portuguese architecture, Baixa is a good example for this understanding, because it was built in a completely different way with wider streets and lots of squares, already predicting that something like that could happen again, even with a type of anti-seismic construction of the sec. XVIII. From the park Eduardo VII we will perfectly understand the difference between downtown and the remaining Lisbon neighborhoods on the hills, along with the statue of Marquis de Pombal, the statesman responsible for the reconstruction of Lisbon as well as all the economic and social changes born after the earthquake.

Step 2Saint George´s Castle

Saint George´s Castle is one of the few vestiges of the Arabs in Lisbon, the scene of several destructions and reconstructions since the Romans. Today it is one of the monuments most visited in Lisbon. In our tour we will have the opportunity to visit it if its a must for you, if not will what it from the exterior from one of the best views in Lisbon the Miradouro de Nossa Senhora do Monte, so that your time with us is the best way, unfortunately this tour is only 4 hours.

Step 3Alfama

Alfama, the oldest quarter of Lisbon, this old Medina with small rows and alleys, a perfect defensive system during the Arabah period in Portugal from the 8th to the 12th century, after the Christian reconquest the Arab civilization that lived here were moved to the Bairro da Mouraria, to discover Alfama is plunged in the Portuguese authenticity. Do you already know Fado, the most typical and charismatic Portuguese music? Fado was born here in this pour neighborhood in the midst of this melancholy of the Portuguese whom they called saudade.

Step 4Belem

Belém or Bethlehem, was born as an autonomous city of Lisbon until 1945, a holy city from where the sailors set out to discover the new World, not without partaking in the solemn masses to beg for protection. Here we go to understand how important was the Portuguese golden age from the 16th to the 18th centuries, with a visit to the Jerónimo’s Monasteries, the Belem Tower and the Monument to the Discoveries, a modern monument, a stylized caravel leaving the city in search of the unknown.

No less important will be the visit to the Pasteis de Belem factory, this century-old pastry that didn’t allowed the success change the will of the first members of the family to keep the place unique in the sale of this wonderful Portuguese sweets.

Family Traveller

I took a stopover in Lisbon and took a tour of the city. Our guide, Mr. Joaquim kept us waiting for over an hour at the airport, as our flight was delayed. He was patient and had a wonderful good mood !!!! I really enjoyed the tour, the explanations and the good conversation our guide. The car was very spacious with water and wi fi. It was very worth it. I recommend.
