In the Tavira Castle a military architecture that went through several phases over time with an important role in the defense of this territory, the perfect place for a panoramic view of the city.

Step 2Faro

Perhaps the city in the Algarve with more heritage, Faro a city to discover it within its walls, with a history so divergent wealth to the poverty of looting to authentic destruction especially during the great earthquake of 1755. In Faro we disftrutar of its historical center and who knows how to have a coffee in one of the many cafés and terraces.

Step 3Vilamoura

Vilamoura, it´s the country’s largest luxury complex with: Marina, five golf courses, nightclubs, tennis and diving club and many star-studded hotels.

The Vilamoura marina receives annually private yachts from whole World, nevertheless the first one in 1974, was the Giralda sailboat of His Royal Highness, the Count of Barcelona, from here never again stopped, having become an important center of tourism and lodging private residential luxury.

With three magnificent beaches; Praia dos Pescadores, Peneco and Inatel, Albufeira is undoubtedly a place not to be missed, with the colorful fishing boats on the ” Pescadores” beach, authentic live memories of a fishing past, keeping the fishermen tradition they continue to provide local restaurants with fish caught daily.

The historic center of Albufeira with a traditional atmosphere with its whitewashed houses with narrow cobbled streets filled with cafes and shops with a lively nightlife being the central avenue is a succession of tempting bars, restaurants and nightclubs.

Overnight in Albufeira

Step 5Lagos

Lagos was already in the middle of the sixteenth century, the great base of support for the Discoveries, the place from which its main expeditions departed and where many of the products marketed.

This strategic importance of Lagos gave rise to a considerable economic development, which was translated in the fixation of many people in the city, originating its urban growth.

The continuous harassment that the city suffered on the part of the North African corso forced to the construction of a second waist of walls, adapted to the new concepts of the military architecture, that the generalization of the use of the artillery had introduced, and that the Portuguese, following the model Italian avant-garde, had been putting into practice in Morocco and in most of the territories integrated in the Empire.

Step 6Sagres

The Sagres Fortress, also known as Promotorium Sacrum, built by order of Prince Henry the Navigator, where inside we will see; cannons, a sixteenth-century tower and also the Church of Our Lady of Grace, one of the former monument ex-líbris is the rose of the winds, a sundial that some consider to be of the time of the infant and the nautical school that he founded in Sagres.

Very close by we have the Fortress of “Cabo de Sao Vicente”, built in the 16th century to protect the coast from the Moorish attacks, pirates and, according to the legend, the place where the fortress was built will have received the remains of San Vicente before they were moved to Lisbon.

Family Traveller

I was in Portugal with my family in November / 2018 and hired the 2 day tour to the Algarve.

I opted for this company for the positive reviews I saw on Tripadivisor. I mounted the itinerary and sent Mr. Hugo, who was always helpful, answered the messages and clarified my doubts promptly. During these two days to the Algarve we were delighted with the assistance of guide Carlos. Spectacular person, super educated, careful, high-spirited, knowledgeable in the history of Portugal, made us totally comfortable and safe. So much so that we hired another two days for a tour in Lisbon, Sintra, Cabo da Roca, Estoril and Cascais. His tips on places visited, restaurants, ways to save queue and option for faster journeys were essential for the use of time. We can say that we made a friend in Portugal. My family and I were very happy for the fun and knowledgeable days we spent. Thank you to Mr Hugo, and especially to Carlos! God bless them!
